The digital speakeasy for real food. Underground restaurant discovery with zero chain restaurants. Ever.
"If you know, you know."
Open Yelp. Open Google Maps. Open DoorDash. What do you see? The same Chipotle. The same Olive Garden. The same algorithm-boosted mediocrity drowning out the taco truck that's been perfecting carnitas for 30 years.
Star ratings are broken. A 4.2 means nothing when it's averaged across tourists who wanted faster service and regulars who know the secret menu. Social proof became social noise.
Type any food word to enter. That's it.
Social proof, not star reviews. Real-time signals only.
Automatically filtered. Zero tolerance. Ever.
Speakeasy aesthetic. Dark. Minimal. Cryptic.
NoChains isn't an app. It's membership to the underground food network.
We built NoChains as a React Native app with a speakeasy aesthetic - black velvet, old gold accents, cryptic hints. No bright colors. No cheerful icons. This isn't Yelp with a filter.
The experience starts with The Door - a black screen with a gold keyhole. Type any food word to enter. Get it wrong (type a chain name), and you're denied. Get it right, and the door opens.
Black screen. Gold keyhole. Type any food word to enter. Chains get denied with a shake.
Dark-themed map with gold particles. Particle size = trending velocity. Glow = very hot.
Live signal stream. Cryptic hints: "tacos. 3 blocks. happening now." Real-time social proof.
Natural language search. "exhausted" → comfort food. "fuck it" → indulgent. AI understands mood.
Full-screen spotlight. Layered reveal: social proof → insider tips → actions. Haptic feedback.
Comprehensive keyword matching + Google Places API verification. Zero chains slip through.
